Tomato sauce for meatballs

Serves 6

1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
2 tbsp olive oil
Finely chop the onions and garlic
slowly fry them in the olive oil in a large thick-bottomed pan
1 kg tomatoes
1 dried chilli
2 tsp oregano
black pepper
2 tbsp tomato paste
chop the tomatoes
crush the chilli
add tomatoes, chilli, oregano, pepper to onions
simmer for 1 hour without a lid (let it thicken)
1 tbsp vinegar
1 handful fresh basil
2 tbsp olive oil
Rip the basil and add it
add the vinegar and olive oil
mix and mash to get required consistency
